Now Hiring: Rentals and Events Manager (posted 8/22/2023)

CLARA’s Rentals Manager is responsible for curating the community events that take place in the Auditorium at CLARA and other public event spaces on CLARA’s campus. The position reports to the executive director and is flexibly scheduled for 25 hours a week, with the hope to grow to 40 hours in the next two years. Some night and weekend work is required.

Duties include:

  • Actively promoting the auditorium and other venues to arts groups that meet CLARA’s larger strategic targets.
  • Responding to inquiries from prospective clients via email and phone and giving site tours as requested / scheduled.
  • Generating rental contracts, collecting payments & tracking other required documents including internal calendars.
  • Maintaining the Auditorium venue: Ensuring that Auditorium equipment meets our clients’ needs, and taking primary responsibility for ensuring that venue is consistently ready for use.
  • Working with the Executive Director to set pricing strategy for auditorium rentals, including target rental goals.
  • Hiring, training, and managing house managers and student workers to staff events as needed.
  • Managing & maintaining internal reporting documents with details about all booked events.

Position will also be tasked with creating and leading a volunteer corps which will include regular event ushering and assistance, as well as an annual community service day.

The best candidates will:

  • Be passionate about interacting with and supporting a wide variety of arts organizations.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and communicate well with a wide range of people.
  • Think strategically about how to leverage the auditorium space to meet financial and mission-based goals
  • Have some experience in live events / theater tech.
  • Be comfortable self-teaching and troubleshooting lighting / sound technology with appropriate documentation
  • Have knowledge of Google Suite, particularly Google Sheets and Google Calendar.

Compensation: $25/hour, plus paid vacation and sick leave.
