CLARA Performing Arts Summer Camp
Registration for the 2024 Season is now open!
CLARA’s Summer Camp programs introduce kids to a wide array of dance, music, theater, and art in a fun, interactive, challenging, and inclusive format taught by artistic professionals. All camps take place at the Auditorium at CLARA: 1425 24th St. Sacramento, 95816.
Junior Edition (ages 6-10): $450/child
Session 1: July 15 – 19, 2024 (9am-4pm) – SOLD OUT, WAITLIST ONLY
Session 2: July 22 – 26, 2024 (9am-4pm) – SOLD OUT, WAITLIST ONLY
Session 3: July 29 – August 2, 2024 (9am-4pm) – SOLD OUT, WAITLIST ONLY
*Students may be dropped off as early as 8:00 am each day and must be picked up at 4:00 pm each day.
Our week-long Junior Camp is specially designed for younger campers, to include a variety of different performing arts classes along with visual arts activities and structured play time. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a culminating performance event for families and friends on the final day of their camp session.

Arts Intensive (ages 11-18): $750/child
June 17 – 28, 2024 (9am-4pm)

Students sample a variety of different art forms over a two-week period while the arts serve as a vehicle to build life skills, self-awareness, pride, confidence, and lasting friendships. All students will have the opportunity to participate in a culminating performance event for families and friends on the final day of camp.

Q: Are campers expected to have any previous experience or training in the arts?
A: CLARA Performing Arts Camp welcomes students of all levels and abilities. They will be introduced to a variety of art forms that may spark new interests, and are not expected to arrive with previous experience. Our introductory level classes will not intimidate newcomers, but will also engage campers with previous experience in the areas we cover.
Q: Will food and drinks be provided?
A: CLARA provides healthy snacks and water for students during their breaks; students are responsible for bringing their own lunches.
Q: When are payments due, and what is your cancellation policy?
A: A 20% nonrefundable deposit is required to hold your space. Final payments are due no later than June 1st for the Arts Intensive Summer Camp, and July 1st for the Junior Camp sessions. If a cancellation is made after submitting the full payment, we can offer an 80% refund if we are able to fill the open spot prior to the start of the camp session.
Q: Is tuition assistance available?
A: Making the arts accessible to all students is key to our mission and financial aid is available; campers will not be turned away due to lack of funds. To start the scholarship process, please check the appropriate box when filling out the registration form and our staff will be in touch.
Q: What types of performing arts classes do you offer? Can campers choose what classes they take?
A: Every day, students will take a class in dance, music, and theatre; these classes will change daily, so by the end of the camp session each student will have been introduced to a wide variety of different kinds of performing arts! In order to ensure campers receive the full benefit from the unique structure of our camp, they will automatically be enrolled in all of the different classes we offer. Our class lineup is determined by which teachers are available for camp; we will confirm the class lineup once our teaching artist selection is finalized.
Q: Can students attend more than one session of the Junior Edition camp?
A: Campers are allowed to attend one session only. Since all sessions offer the same classes, we have learned from experience that when a child repeats the camp and has already learned all of the material, they can sometimes unintentionally make the other students feel like they are behind since they haven’t learned the material yet. We find that the best experience for all campers is that they are learning new material together.
