CLARA’s Summer Camp program is a two-week performing arts camp for youth, delivered by artistic professionals. Campers are introduced to over 15 different classes in dance, music, theater, and art in a fun, interactive, challenging, and inclusive format. This program is designed to give kids the chance to sample a wide selection of artistic forms and uses the arts as a vehicle to build life skills, self-awareness, pride, confidence, and lasting friendships.

This year, we’re excited to premiere a week-long Junior Camp, specially designed for our younger campers to include 9 different performing arts classes along with visual arts activities and structured play time. Both the Summer and Junior Camps will conclude with a culminating performance event for family, friends, and community members.

We’re really looking forward to returning to in-person classes this year and, now more than ever, we know how valuable this outlet is to students. In the event that state guidance indicates we are unable to meet safely in person, we will offer a virtual summer camp as an alternative to keep kids active and engaged. Our 2020 virtual summer camp was a great success so we’re prepared to offer another amazing camp this year either way.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Do you offer discounts?

A: Yes! We offer a 10% discount for all campers who register and make a 20% deposit by March 15; returning campers enjoy an additional 10% off as well! Making the arts accessible to all students is key to our mission and financial aid is available; campers will not be turned away due to lack of funds. To apply for a scholarship, please complete the following application.

Q: Will food and drinks be provided?

A: Absolutely. Active campers need to stay nourished, so the cost of camp includes breakfast, lunch, and healthy snacks. You can inform us of any food allergies or restrictions when you register.

Q: Are campers expected to have any previous experience or training in the arts?

A: CLARA Performing Arts Camp welcomes students of all levels and abilities. They will be introduced to a variety of art forms that may spark new interests, and are not expected to arrive with previous experience. Our introductory level classes will not intimidate newcomers, but will also engage campers with previous experience in the areas we cover.

Q: When are payments due, and what is your cancellation policy?

A: A 20% deposit is required to hold your space. Final payments are due no later than June 1st  for Session 1 Summer Camp, and July 1st for Session 2 Summer Camp and Junior Camp. Deposits are non-refundable EXCEPT for cancellations required due to COVID-19 (including change in camp format necessitated by County guidance.)

Q: What types of performing arts classes do you offer? Can campers choose what classes they take?

A: Every day, students will take a class in dance, music, and theatre; these classes will change daily, so that at the end of the first week, each student will have been introduced to 15 different kinds of performing arts! In order to ensure campers receive the full benefit from the unique structure of our camp, they will automatically be enrolled in all of the different classes we offer. Our class lineup is determined by which teachers are available for camp; we will confirm the class lineup once our teaching artist selection is finalized.
